This organization has been named after Swami Vivekananda who was the main architect of international brotherhood and who delivered his first speech in September 11, 1893 in the Chicago Parliament of religions warning the world religious leaders to gain understanding of each other’s religion to create a better world. In today’s world, issues such as war, violence and growing distrust among human being create a greater need of Swami Vivekananda’s teaching. His teachings promote unification and life of peace and harmony despite geographical and cultural differences. Here, at the Vivekananda Study & Philanthropic Center of New York, USA, we are trying our utmost to continue the work and study of the life and teachings of SWAMI VIVEKANANDA, in particular, his message of ‘man making and character building education’. The Center, to date, is providing over 1500 educational scholarships to financially weak students of Bangladesh, India, Zambia and South Africa. Moreover, the members of our center take part to serve new South East Asian immigrant communities and their young children in New York City area, in addition to collecting and sending funds to Bangladesh, India, Zambia and South Africa during natural calamities. This Center organizes monthly holy visit by Revered Swamis from Ramakrishna Order of India to conduct prayers, chanting, guided meditation and spiritual discourses on Sri Ramakrishna Deva, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda to aid the spiritual seekers.
